Leica D-Lux8 Emotional Snapshots: “The Joy of Total Immersion”

When I no longer know where my heart is headed,
perhaps it’s time to look for something I can fully lose myself in something that will help me find my way back to myself.

 

In those brief moments of complete absorption,

I come face to face with who I truly am.

 

Immersion keeps me alive.

Light slipped in through a crack.

It traced the lines and planes, casting shadows as it moved.

The space welcomed its brief, graceful play.

The light felt unusually strong.

The stairs and the forest.

It took me a while to decide how to frame them.

Where should I draw the line between the two?

Somewhere between their different textures, I finally stopped.

Red petals had softly gathered on the ground.

On the jar, on the stonecrop leaves, even in the shaded crevices.

They had settled, so quietly and beautifully.

These days, my gaze stops first.

I find myself looking longer before pressing the shutter.

Inside the old building,

another structure appeared to exist.

As if it were holding another world within.

The night in the city had begun.

Passing by a shop with its lights on,

I paused within its glow.

There was a flower.

Its shadow settled on the wall.

It was beautiful.

The sky was overcast, but the air felt clear, so I took the photo.

Later, it looked like a moment from the past.

 

 

There are moments when time seems to stop.
The noise fades, the to-do list disappears, and all that remains is me deeply present in the here and now.

 

To be fully immersed in something
is the clearest proof that I’m truly alive.
What it is doesn’t matter photography, gardening, reading, traveling.
The act of immersion itself is a gift a stretch of time devoted entirely to me.

 

Today, once again, through the joy of deep immersion,

I feel the undeniable truth: I am alive.
